About ILESO DESIGN
Hi, I’m Diego, the person behind ILESO DESIGN.
I’m an architecture student based in Madrid, and I started this project from my room with a 3D printer, a growing obsession with lamps, and the feeling that design becomes much more interesting when you can actually make it yourself.
ILESO is small, and it’s meant to be. Every lamp is designed, prototyped, printed, assembled, photographed, packed and shipped by me.
Why lamps?
I have always been drawn to objects that can change the mood of a room without needing to explain themselves too much. I feel there is power in that.
Lamps sit somewhere between furniture, sculpture and atmosphere. They are useful, but they also create a feeling. A soft light in the corner of a room can make a space feel calmer, warmer and more lived-in.
That is what ILESO is interested in: objects with presence, texture and warmth, that affect the space around them.
The process
The process starts with a simple idea: a shape, a texture, a silhouette, or the way light might pass through a material.
It almost always starts in a dirty little notebook that I always carry with me. It then gets modelled in 3D, prototyped, changed again and again until I get satisfied with the way something works.
It really is a “2 steps forward, 1 step back” kind of process.
The final lamp is only the visible part. Behind it there is a slower process of trial and error, where each prototype teaches me something about light, material and patience; definitely patience.
ILESO DESIGN is still at the beginning.
I don’t know exactly what shape it will take yet, but I know that I want it to feel honest, warm, experimental and carefully made.
My priority isn’t profits, it is to build high quality products that enhance the space they are in.
Thank you for being here at this early stage :)
